Courses for Refugees


Since Mai 2016 MDWI is offering a special program in cooperation with the Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg aiming at refugees interested in studying at a german university or university for applied science. The refugees will gain the linguistic and technical foundation needed to enroll in a german university and get a university degree in germany. Concerning the varying assessment of school leaving certificates of different kinds/ regions refugees may get direct or indirect access to higher education. Applicants can pre-check at anabin whether their documents are accepted or not.


DSH-Course: In an intensive german course refugees having direct access to higher education will learn german language in an academic manner till C1-level as intense preparation for the DSH-exam, the German language examination for university entrance.


Studienkolleg (T-Course): In case of indirect access refugees are obliged to attend a foundation year, the so called Studienkolleg, to be able to study at a german university. Beside learning german language till C1-level the participants will take subjects as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and IT. After successfully completing Studienkolleg by passing the Assessment exam / Feststellungsprüfung those students can enroll in courses of study related to sciences, engineering and information technology.




The course program for refugees is sponsored by the DAAD and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

New courses starting October 16th, 2017

Interested refugees can apply from now on till 15th August at the latest.

Documents needed for the Registration:
• completed Application Form
• Copy of the passport
• Copy of the residence title
• Copy of the high school degree (original + german or english translation)
• Copy of the university degree if applicable (original + german or english translation)
• Copy of acquired language certificates
• CV
• 1 Photo

After the registration all applicants will get a letter of invitation and have to take both, an entrance examination and a placement test. The invitation is necessary to take part in both tests. More details can be found in the references below.
